Program Completion Requirements

  • Veteran Services Office (VSO) Mentoring Phase (8 hours)
    • Actively collaborate with your assigned mentor for one semester to complete a semester goal planner (complete exit survey)
    • Attend one VSO event
    • Develop an academic plan in consultation with an advisor from the Office of Adult Student & Evening Services (OASES) to maximize your VA benefits
    • Attend one workshop with either OASES, the VSO, or the Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)
    • Complete a workshop with Niner Finances
    • Complete a financial plan with Niner Finances
  • Academic & Personal Development Phase (5 hours)
    • Attend three workshops or services with the University Center for Academic Excellence
    • Complete the Competency Compass Assessment through the UNC Charlotte Career Center
    • Identify two career options utilizing a job finding tool such as ONET and provide a brief plan of action for employment for at least one
    • Complete a Financial Planning consultation with Niner Finances
  • Professional Development Phase (12 hours)
    • Attend one career fair with the UNC Charlotte Career Center
    • Utilize the Career Center’s Resume and Cover letter services and upload a copy of your resume to Hire-a-Niner
    • Utilize the Interview Prep Program through the Career Center
    • Create an account with the Veterans Bridge Home employment resource
  • Community Service (5 hours)
    • Participate in a total of 5 hours of community service
    • It is highly recommended, though not required to join the UNC Charlotte Student Veterans of America chapter the SVA-49ers

Completion

Completion of this program will award the Niner Gold Veteran certificate and name badge which can be added to your resume and Linkedin as well as a challenge coin to commemorate your achievement.
